I, Cr kidd wish to move the following Notice of Motion at the Council Meeting of 2 April 2019:

That Council resolves that: 1 Council staff provide a cost estimate that subject to a budget bid the following actions to be completed within the 2019-2020 financial year within the City: a removal and replacement of all identified dead trees; b removal of all deadwood within trees; c enhancement planting and where appropriate irrigation for street gardens, roundabouts and blisters; and d installation of entrance planting. 2 Council provide concept designs and costing for entrance signage to the City with final design to be determined by Council. 3 That the above refined budget request be submitted for consideration in the approved Council budget development process. 4 Council again write to Essential Energy to request that trees pruned by contractors are required to shape the tree evenly and not take one side out and leave the tree imbalanced which promotes imbalance in growth and poor appearance.

Background
The City of Orange has continued to grow and expand its footprint over the past years with little increase in funding to maintain streetscapes and gardens.
This has contributed to a prioritisation of resources to conduct tasks. Some trees throughout Orange have substantial dieback or deadwood and creating a poor appearance and may be a safety risk to drivers and pedestrians.
The street gardens and blister gardens require enhancement and improvement.
We receive numerous complaints weekly of the deterioration in Orange’s gardens and trees and questioning of our once proud logo.....Orange the garden city.

A draft budget has been prepared which includes $250,000 of Councillor Initiatives which could be allocated to these initiatives.
